We get asked every now and then about using two colors of solar screen fabric on a house.
We do not recommend to use multiple colors of solar screen fabric on a home.
You want your Austin Solar Screen project to look consistent. The solar screens on your home need to look consistent. You do not want to have different colors of solar screen fabric on a house. That is my recommendation. I think it looks really bad to have multiple colors of fabric on a home. But then this is my opinion.
You can conclude your own opinion by looking at the following pictures.
The picture above shows a dark solar screen on the left side and a stucco solar screen on the front.
Does the above picture look good to you? Does the above illustration of multiple fabric solar screens look good to you? To me, it looks odd.
2nd example of multiple colors of solar screen fabric used per home.
The following two pictures are reversed. This homeowner chose to put the stucco on the sides and dark fabric on the front.
I have to say every time I drive by this house off of Dessau Road I question this installation.
I did this installation several years ago. And I clearly remember having an extensive conversation with the homeowner about it. I clearly remember telling him that I did not think it would look good. That, in my opinion, would not look good to have two different colors of fabric on the house
You can mix and match fabric density levels, but not colors.
You can mix and match the solar screen fabric densities all you want. Meaning you can mix 80% and 90% all you want. But mixing and matching colors is a whole different story. A whole different scenario.
Here’s a section on my website that thoroughly discusses the 80% and 90% solar screen Fabrics.
Need help picking colors?
No problem, I am very good at picking out color combinations for homes. and I will always make recommendations for you to use as a guide. And, once I see the home I will leave samples of those recommendations behind.

You can install different fabric colors for your outdoor patio shades than your solar window shades.
Here, we used the 97% beige white solar screen fabric for these two outdoor patio blinds.
Then we used the 90% chocolate brown fabric for the solar window screens. So for this installation, we used two different colors of fabric. We were able to get away with it because one color is for the exterior patio shades. And the other is for solar window screens.
Here’s (below) a picture of this same installation that shows looking through our solar sun shading fabric. This picture shows what is like looking through our dense 97% Beige/White solar sun shade fabric.
